PAPYRUS
Residential project in the city center
The concept of Papyrus begins with these two ideas; paper speaks to knowledge, culture, and heritage of Oranjestad and the nearby National Library. Plants bring softness, movement, privacy, and an oasis from the heat of the city.
Together, they create a concept that feels rooted in its setting and connected to the character of the location.
Set in Oranjestad, the residences are surrounded by the everyday energy of the capital, from shops, restaurants and colourful streets to cultural landmarks and the coast. The National Library nearby gives Papyrus an especially fitting neighbour and helped inspire the identity of the project. Here, the city is not something to escape from. It is part of the experience.
The concept of Papyrus is embedded throughout the design ethos. The architecture uses natural materials and landscaping to soften the building, adding warmth, movement and a stronger connection to its surroundings. Furniture, finishes and décor take inspiration from the colors, vibrancy and cultural heritage of the local area. Spaces have been reimagined to create greater privacy through landscaping, while communal spaces have been redesigned to encourage more enjoyable connections..
